port of green bay whiteboard video

Challenge
In most Port cities, the average person probably doesn't know what a Port is or does. It's no different in Green Bay, Wisconsin. What most people do know is that big ships coming through the Port cause the bridges to go up, which impacts their daily commute. Therefore, the challenge was creating public awareness about the Port of Green Bay and emphasizing its economic importance to the region.

Solution

L&F's solution was to create a comprehensive, strategic approach to public outreach and education. One tactic that was needed for the effort was something that would clearly and succinctly explain what the Port is/does in a visually appealing way. We accomplished this by developing, creating and using an animated whiteboard video to reach the community and local businesses in a new way. The video is short - less than 90 seconds - fun, and very eye-catching. It appeals to people who maybe wouldn't normally be interested in information about the Port of Green Bay.

The video has been shared on the Port's social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) and added as a permanent addition to the Port's website, with the following results:

  • Over 1,300 views on Facebook alone within the first few months of posting
  • 180 shares, likes and comments
  • Positive social media comments, including the following:
o   "This is such a cool video" - Ashley V.
    o   "Love our Port!!"  - Beth L.
    o   "Very nice!" - Jennifer G.
    o   "Looks awesome!!" - Kristen P.
  • Approximately 21,600 website visitors saw the video within the first few months of posting

The video also received a national communication award from the American Association of Port Authorities as well as the NEW Public Relations Society of America.
